V. Old Business
There was discussion about the August 24, 2005 minutes of this committee, especially about the first sentence of the seventh paragraph of the fourth item. Consuelo Faust-Anderson moved that we “replace the first sentence of the seventh paragraph of the fourth item with the original sentence. The sentence to be replaced in Faust-Anderson's motion is: “Peter Warfield mentioned that he was troubled by the fact that the Chair and the Vice Chair were having regular monthly meetings with the City Librarian Luis Herrera which were not reported or announced to the LCAC. The original sentence reads: “Peter Warfield mentioned that he was troubled by the fact that that the Chair and Vice Chair were having occasional meetings with the City Librarian Luis Herrera. After much discussion, the motion was withdrawn.

Marcia Schneider, Laura Lent, and Jason Honig gave a presentation on collection development and usage data.
The Capital Projects Subcommittee moved that “The LCAC: Commends the SFPL for moving books out of closed storage and recommends continuation of this practice to the extent possible; and recommends: Installation of prominent street and way-finding signage at the Larkin, Fulton, and Grove Street entrances; Installation of street and compass directional orientation signs on all floors above the first at central locations such as the elevator/stairway entrances; Installation of a railing or stair marking system at the atrium entrance and the Larkin Street stairs; Creation of better access to the children's area; Design of a warm and welcoming space in the first floor reading room by use of attractive décor, comfortable seating (possibly Naugahyde upholstery) and brighter and warmer lighting.
