The San Francisco Enterprise GIS Program (SFGIS) provides the following services to City departments and the public:
Open Data Services
- Distribute geospatial and non-geospatial datasets to departments and public, through internal database systems and through DataSF (data.sfgov.org)
- Acquire commercial datasets for internal use:
- Pictometry Imagery for 2002, 2004, 2007 through present
- Updates to the City’s 3D Building Model
- Demographic Data
- Business Data
- Acquire and facilitate access of departmental datasets for internal and external use, including key basemap datasets such as the City’s parcel fabric and street centerline network.
- Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) Services for automation of dataset loading to DataSF
Enterprise application development and support
- An open source, web-based application that allows City employees to query, update, and retire street addresses managed via a single authoritative database.
- Fiber network asset management
Infrastructure platform for GIS services
- Maintain RDBMS-based System of Record geodatabase in development, quality assurance and production environments
- Provide ArcGIS Server services to departments
Maintenance of Enterprise Licensing Agreements with:
GIS technical expertise and support to departments
GIS Technical Educational opportunities for City employees
- Bi-monthly City GIS User Group Meeting for demonstrations and exchange of ideas
- GIS Quick Start Course provided by City College of San Francisco (free to City employees)
- Free Premium courses from Esri’s Virtual Campus, as part of the Enterprise License Agreement
